Intercultural Marriages

To be provided (Bob) - currently, these are tentative thoughts

Objectives
"The goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith"
[1 Timothy 1:5, NASB]
  • Open to those who are married, plan to be married, or torn apart by a difficult marriage - most likely a broad range of ages, life situations, and cultural backgrounds
  • The Bible will always be our guide and basis for study (2 Tim 3:16)
  • Because this group may attract many who haven't accepted Jesus' "gift", interweave His message of redemption, love and grace
  • Focus on marriage relationship techniques, primarily addressing problems that occur because the thinking and customs from two different cultures are involved.
  • Discussion encouraged on Friday evenings
  • Combine with other adult Bible Study groups on Sunday morning
Content and Plans

"Answer me, O LORD, for Your lovingkindness is good;
According to the greatness of Your compassion, turn to me,"
[Psalms 69:16 -- NASB]
  • Always provide an opportunity for praise and prayer covering the group needs
  • Friday evening will include worship/praise singing
  • Studies pertinent to today's life problems that are of interest to those attending
  • Studies that encourage thought and focus on Jesus Christ's love for each of us
  • Part or all of the study time will be segregated .. men and women .. for more intimate discussions
  • Allow for focused discussions
Friday evening Options (discussion encouraged)
  • Bible studies covering various marriage topics (finances, authority, family life (getting along), respect/love, conflict, anger management, ...)
  • Introductory level Bible Study with discussion (topical series covering several weeks but not months)
  • Study from various books on marriage (if secular, connecting them to God's Word)
Staffing (Friday evening only)
