(Compliments of Joe, our most excellent videographer)

Friday, April 15th to Sunday, April 17th.
Our retreat will open with dinner in the dining hall on Friday evening and close with clean-up after lunch on Sunday.  We understand that you'll be tired and hungry, so instead of making Friday night a potluck, we'll have food ready for you.  Just show up!

Theme: "Find Your Niche: Identifying & Making the Most of Your Ministry Gifts"

Speaker: Pastor Ken Carlson, English Pastor at the Chinese for Christ Church, Berkeley.
  • Understand the way that God designed you and gifted you as a part of Christ's Body
  • Identify your personality and spiritual gifts
  • Learn how to discover your ministry niche in the Body, where you will be able to serve joyfully and effectively

Facilities

We're now at the Salmon Falls Retreat Center, 12 miles up the Washougal River.  We'll have a chapel that seats 150, plus a separate dining building equipped with a commercial kitchen and seating for 100. For city slickers, rest assured there's electricity and heat!  And by April, the snow should have melted.  =)

A range of accommodations are available to us:
  • A total of 19 rooms in the 2 chapel wings, with a queen bed in each room
  • 9 A-frames, including 1 with a queen bed and its own bathroom
  • Cabins with bunks for 7-8
For a photo tour of the facilities, see Bob's web album.

The address is 11341 Washougal River Road, Washougal, WA 98671.  Driving time is 45 minutes from our church.

Special thanks to Esther for finding us this retreat center -- and Bob, Russ, Joe and Zhangqin for trekking out there in the snow and giving us the thumbs up.

Children's Program

Childcare will be provided.  Joe and Amanda's sister and brother-in-law have graciously agreed to come and provide the children's program.  We're expecting to accommodate kids 18-months to 12-years-old.

Meals

Meals are included in the registration costs.   Our friend, Chef Ken Mar has created a wonderful menu for us to enjoy during our retreat. On your registration form, please specify if you have any dietary needs.  In true communal fashion, we'll all lend a hand in food prep and or cleanup.

Continental breakfast will be served each morning.

Cost

  • $60 for adults (includes 2 nights lodging, 5 meals, and Spiritual Gifts workbook)
  • $45 for kids 3 and up (includes 2 nights lodging, 5 meals, and children's program)
  • $25 for kids <3 (includes 5 meals and children's program.  Lodging is free.)
  • Babies <1 and not using children's program are free.
All attendees are encouraged to stay the length of the retreat to get the most out of the time.  For adults not able to stay overnight, the cost is $45 fee to cover meals, facilities, and the workbook.

We desire all members of our EM church body who want to come to be able to do so.  Scholarships are available to those for whom the cost is a hardship.

Brothers and sisters on the Chinese side are welcome to join us.  No translation will be provided.
